Cairo: Maj. Gen. Hassan Falah, head of Red Sea Ports Authority, said a contract has been signed with the company Adabiya Marine Investment for the development of the port of Adabiya overlooking to the Gulf of Suez in Suez Governorate, in order to create a 100,000 sq m yard and expand the wharf to 650 m in length with a 14 m depth alongside. The port's annual handling capacity will double to 10m tons.
Major General Hassan Falah said: "The company Adabiya Marine" includes Chinese, Emirati and Saudi investments, which has been contracted with to work at the port for 25 years, which is expected to be providing 2000 jobs for the people of Suez Governorate, beside the commercial interest that would accrue to the country by raising the capacity of Adabiya port to accommodate 10 million tons of cargo, in addition to the investment at the port which will return financial benefits to the state treasury of up to $25m."
