The Egyptian-Italian Dialogue: Positive impacts on Maritime Transport Sector

The Second Edition of the Egyptian Italian Dialogue has proved great success in the field of maritime transport in order to stimulate economic cooperation between both countries and agreement on several fields of great benefit to Egypt. The presentation from the Egyptian side by Admiral/ Ayman Saleh was duly appreciated for the inclusion of the Maritime Sector capacities in detail by throwing light on the Strategy of the Egyptian Fleet Development, together with the highly accurate statistics of the maritime transport. The dialogue was attended by an economic delegation of 65 members represented five Italian ports and major logistic, engineering, and construction companies added to this Italian international funding institutions .On the Egyptian side, Chairmen of Board of directors of the port authorities and a large number of competent maritime senior officials also participated. The event was held over the course of one day during three specialized workshops succeeded to reach significant outcomes included signing an agreement between the General Authority for Roads, bridges, and land Transport and The Italian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure on facilitation of Italian -Egyptian cargo movements within the framework of operating Ro-Ro line between Egyptian and Italian ports. In addition to initialing a Memorandum of Understanding between The General Authority of Port of Alexandria and Livorno Port to undertake projects and achieve electronic connection networks. After the end of the conference, Maritime Transport Sector organized three field trips to the Egyptian ports: Damietta Port Authority, The General Authority of Port of Alexandria, and Sukhna port in order that the projects locations are witnessed and to demonstrate the capacities of the Egyptian ports. Nowadays, the whole world is keen on making good use of resources and encouraging investments. Therefore, unique performance in ports has become a must and the role of the maritime transport sector -Ministry of Transport is to elaborate the adequate strategy to fulfill this universal requirement.
